why do we need to know the weather in Baghdad?

every day i wake up and i turn on the TV in order to find out just how MUCH i am going to freeze my ass off, only to find out that
A. it is almos always 90 degrees in Baghdad
B. I am, in fact, going to freeze my ass off
but note that i ALWAYS know what the weather is in Baghdad BEFORE i know the weather in NY.

i also can't help but feeling like i am living in some sort of sci-fi pulp fiction book, where the government feeds the most ridiculous propaganda to the people and they start to fall for it and newscasters get fired for speaking their minds and if you are against the murder of innocent children you MUST be against the troops and everyone is ok with it because they have been brainwashed into thinking that everything that is being done is in the name of security and patriotism and 'humanitarian' efforts.
but if we were watching it on TV, we would all be shaking our heads and yelling
"omg i can't believe they are falling for that!!!!"

watching the news has become nearly comical. If i didn't know that people were actually getting their fucking HEADS blown off, it would be Seinfeld.
